Earlier this summer, we had numerous reports of extremely slow site performance. I made a post a few weeks ago about the issues and some plans to address them. Take a look at that post before continuing if you're curious.
I want to reiterate that the severity and frequency of site issues that were happening are not typical or acceptable for Longshanks. The overall site performance in June of this year was definitely not up to our standards. Longshanks has done better and we can do better.
The good news that I can now announce is that we ARE doing better! Due to a combination of server tweaks and changes to how we handle data, performance and responsiveness of the site has been dramatically improved even when under heavy load during busy weekends.
I mentioned in the previous post that Longshanks was expecting to move to a new server. So far, it appears that the changes that have been made are sufficient to not require such a drastic measure to be taken. That being said, we will continuing observing site performance closely over the coming weeks and months and will revisit that decision if needed.
Hopefully everything works smoothly from now on, but please contact us if you notice significant speed issues or other suspicious site behavior.
Thank you for your time, your patience, and for choosing Longshanks.
